Beware of Subpar CPO Certification Providers

Unfortunately, not all CPO certification courses are reliable, or worth your time and money.

Make sure to avoid copycats or CPO certification providers with these red flags:

  • Inexperienced CPO Certification Instructors: Relying on instructors with limited education and real-world pool experience.
  • Limited CPO Certifications: Programs that only certify a few operators each year (or none at all).
  • Unapproved CPO Certification Courses: Falsely indicate that a course is approved in your area, when it actually isn’t.
  • Lack of CPO Certification Materials: Offer no supplemental learning materials to help you succeed.
  • Generic CPO Presentations: Boring course content that focuses on reading directly from the textbook.
  • Exam-Only Focus: Prioritize test results over true operational competence (a major liability risk).
  • No Ongoing Support: Only engage with you during the course, and then charge extra for help once you’re certified.
